Nubians basically live(d) from Aswan (in Egypt) into the top half of the Sudan. Many were displaced when the high dam went in. The only positive side I can see is that it encouraged a lot of archological work (I know would have been better not to have to have disturbed the remains of the culture). Some of that work is on display in the Nubian museum in Aswan. The Nubians had a complex and sophisticated culture way back when.
